Crail Festival has unveiled its programme for July, with Dougie MacLean and Isla St Clair leading the line-up.

The festival runs from July 20 to 30. MacLean will perform at its finale concert, while St Clair will arrive at the harbour aboard the vintage fishing vessel The Reaper, before presenting her audio-visual show Eyes Front.

Other musicians performing include the Nova Scotia Jazz Band, who will entertain at a jazz lunch at Crail Golfing Society.

A concert with a difference will be given by Robin Laing, the Whisky Man, who will also offer tastings of the amber nectar.

The spoken word will take centre stage when Pauline Prior Pitt entertains in A Pie, A Pint and A Poet.

A classical touch is given by Crail Festival Orchestra, Savourna Stevenson, Olivia Barry, Paul Donnelly and Mick Wright and the Wild Myrtles.

Family entertainment is from Billy Anderson’s Family Ceilidh, a community quiz, ghost walks and the return of Illyria Theatre with an open-air version of Twelfth Night at Wormistoune House.

Crail’s Strolling Players will make several appearances through the festival.

For the young, this year’s event will include performances by the Clydebuilt Puppets, the Tartan Juggler Circus Skills and Sticky Kids.

Old favourites including the rockpool guddle, treasure hunt, storytelling, pottery sessions and sandcastle and fishing competitions are back and there will be weekend visits by the museum bus.

As usual, various venues around the village will be used and the annual open gardens weekend will be held on July 23 and 24.

The art show will be in the town hall throughout the festival and an exhibition of entries to the photographic competition will be in the Kirk Hall on July 29 and 30.

For an early taste of the festival a lunchtime concert will be given in Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Matthew McAllister and Aisling Agnew on May 14, followed by an evening concert in the community hall by the Tannahill Weavers.

The box office will be open in Crail Town Hall on May 13 and 14 and after that tickets will be available at www.crailfestival.co.uk or by phoning 01333 450108.
