Organisers of the Scottish Horse Show have announced they will be taking their show back to its “true home” at the Royal Highland Showground, next season.

The change of venue also brings with it a change of format. For 2015 the equestrian show will revert to running as a one-day show.

As a result, the 2015 Scottish Horse Show will take place on Tuesday, July 21, at the Royal Highland Centre’s Ingliston Showground, outside Edinburgh.

“The Royal Highland Showground was for many years the home of the Scottish Horse Show,” said Scottish Horse Show chairman, Tweetie Nimmo.

“It was held here during the 60s and 70s, which many of our older competitors and friends will remember fondly.

“The committee and I are, therefore, extremely delighted to bring the show back to its true home.”

Endeavouring to continue the success of the show, the committee has bid for the re-instatement of its former HOYS qualifying classes for Mountain and Moorland Working Ponies, and has also lodged a request with Grandstand Media for further HOYS qualifiers to come north of the Border.

The show is now finalising its judges for next year and hopes to announce these shortly.

“Although we benefited greatly from the all weather going at Ingliston Country Club, near Glasgow, we just could not accommodate the number of classes and exhibitors joining us as well as the high costs, which were proving too prohibitive despite making real cuts in our overall costs,” commented Mrs Nimmo.
