Hundreds of thousands of applicants for tickets for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games have started to find out if they have been successful.
Organisers have begun contacting people who applied to watch some of the world-class competition take place in venues across the city and beyond next summer.
In the next few days all ticket applicants will be contacted via letter or email.
During the four-week allotted window, there were 2.3 million requests for up to one million tickets.
Dundee software engineer Aidan Temple was delighted to get two tickets for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony although they are costing him £180 each.
The 23-year-old first applied for Category four tickets at £40 each but was told that section was heavily subscribed and his chances of success would be improved if he aimed higher.
“They said that because of their huge popularity I may have to go up to another category so I decided to go for Category Two and am happy that I’ve got them,” he said.
“They are for the opening ceremony at Celtic Park on July 23. They’re costing £360 in total which is expensive, and I don’t yet know where in the stadium they are for, but I’m sure it will be a great occasion.
“I like athletics and it’s great to have the chance to see this important event taking place in Scotland.”
Proving particularly popular from the 17 sports on offer was track cycling, which received 25 times more requests than the number of tickets available.
There was also an excess of 100,000 applications made for the 100m men’s final at Hampden Park.
