The talents of street artists will soon mask the questionable humour of graffiti vandals at Arbroath’s new skatepark.
In recent weeks the words “ANTI-LITTER SIGN” have been scrawled in white and blue paint at the West Links Park facility, which opened last October.
Organiser Jillian Low, one of the people involved in a four-year campaign to raise funds and support for the project, was philosophical about the vandalism.
She said: “It comes with the territory and the committee realised this quite quickly.
“We are hoping to get some proper street artists involved and work on the space, rather than having it a mess.
“People will tend not to spray over proper art, if it’s there.”
She also said that spray paint by the miniature railway was unacceptable and the committee would work with Angus Council on this and to address a problem with litter in the area.
The local authority is aware of the graffiti and has agreed to allow the skatepark group to cover it with artwork.
