A motorist had a lucky escape after his car careered off the A90 near Finavon and came to rest on its roof.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5pm on Monday after the vehicle landed in a field at the side of the carriageway.
The driver — who was alone — suffered only minor cuts to his face. Paramedics checked him over and treated his injuries.
Chief Inspector Greig Steele said the car may have struck a pothole causing the driver to lose control.
He added, “There have certainly been a lot of reports regarding potholes and black ice on the road and it is vital that motorists exercise caution on the A90 and all other roads across the region.”
The incident occured about a mile from Finavon on the southbound carriageway. Traffic was not significantly disrupted and no other vehicles were involved.
Firefighters were initially called out but received a message to return to base as the road was not blocked.
The crash followed disruption in the same area earlier in the day when a jack-knifed lorry caused problems for motorists.
One lane of the A90 was closed southbound at around 6.30am between the A935 junction in Brechin and the B957 in Finavon while police cleared the road.
Motorways and trunk roads agency Bear Scotland has been contacted by Tayside Police to address the increasing number of potholes.
