A man has suffered serious injuries in an early hours Angus cliff fall.
He was rescued by helicopter after plunging onto rocks near Arbroath around 2.30am on Sunday.The incident involved a full turnout of emergency services, including the helicopter which winched the 23-year-old casualty to a waiting ambulance after the fall to the east of the town.Aberdeen Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre paged teams from Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven.The call-out also involved both the Arbroath all-weather and inshore lifeboats along with RAF Rescue 131.It is understood the rescue helicopter lifted the casualty to waiting paramedics, and he was then taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.The man, who is local, is still undergoing treatment for what have been described as serious injuries.The last of the Coastguard crews was stood down around 5am.Visibility at the time of the incident was good, with a slight sea and light winds.More details in Monday’s edition of The Courier.
