Almost £500,000 will be spent on the “hugely important” Arbroath Harbour within the next two weeks.
Angus Council has agreed to spend money on patching the harbour walls and Aberdeen firm CHAP Engineering will carry out the work.
Company director Derek Fisher said the ambitious project would mean a huge facelift for the harbour, and said engineers also planned to install new street lamps and CCTV cameras.
“We are very pleased to be associated with the ongoing renovation and maintenance works at the Arbroath harbour project,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to a mid-June start, and hopefully a glorious Scottish summer, to aid the access to the more challenging sections of the harbour structure.”
Local councillor Martyn Geddes said: “The harbour is hugely important to the entire area. There’s now a waiting list just to get into the harbour, and it gets longer every year.”
