Angus lottery winner Adrian Bayford is being sued for £200,000 by a former employee who claims he almost lost his leg in a golf cart crash.
Christopher Tovey who worked on Mr Bayford’s Suffolk estate after he split up withGillian Bayford from Carnoustie has issued his former employer with a High Court writ.
He claims he needed twooperations to save his leg after Mr Bayford lost control of the buggy they were both in,crushing Mr Tovey in June2013.
The father-of-three, who now walks on crutches, claims Mr Bayford accepted responsibility for the accident and he nowsuffers from constant painand depression.
The Bayfords won Britain’s second-biggest lottery win in 2012 but split in 2013, just 15 months after the EuroMillions windfall.
The couple marked their £148.6 million win with aholiday at Barry Downscaravan park near Carnoustie.
While Mr Bayford left forthe £6m Haverhill estate inSuffolk that year, Mrs Bayford moved to her home town ofCarnoustie.
Despite trying to stay grounded, life has changed for her since the win.
She was working night shifts as a healthcare assistant and Adrian ran a second-handmusic shop before they struck it lucky.
Mrs Bayford has invested £3m in property which she says she bought at market price so as not to rip people off.
Her property portfolio includes the popular Sugarand Spice restaurant in Arbroath.
A former postman, MrBayford had pledged tocontinue running his record shop, but he was reportedly tested to the limit by a stream of people turning up and begging for hand-outs.
He reportedly splashed£2m on horses andstables for his 28-year-oldfiance Samantha Burbidge, who lives in his grade II-listed country mansion at Haverhill.
