Barry Buddon Training Camp in Angus has provided the terrain for more than 40 young soldiers to demonstrate their leadership skills.
The soldiers, hand-picked from across The Royal Regiment of Scotland, have been practising their combat skills as part of a six-week course designed to prepare them to lead infantry soldiers into combat.
Highlander Jack Grieve, 20, from Dundee, who serves in The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS) said: “The course has been great. I was a shy and quiet guy, but the course has made me more confident and outgoing.”
Private Tam Salter, 24, from Perth and a member of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) explained: “The section attacks tested us all, as we had to lead and think for the team, rather than doing our own thing as riflemen.”
