A man remained in intensive care last night after suffering “life-changing” injuries in a two-car crash near Forfar.
The 22-year-old underwent emergency surgery after suffering injuries to his legs and had internal bleeding in his abdomen after a crash on the Forestmuir Wood Road, between Forfar and Kirriemuir, on Saturday at around 5pm.
He was unconscious when pulled from the wreckage after firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free him.
One other man, aged 52, and two females one aged 12 and the other 51 were also taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with a range of “walking wounded” injuries as police crash investigators continued to piece together the incident.
The collision between a blue Peugeot and silver BMW occurred near the saw mill on the straight stretch of country road, south of the junction of the B957 Kirriemuir to Tannadice road.
The road was closed at both ends on Saturday evening but was reopened on Sunday afternoon.
A spokesman for Police Scotland, Tayside Division, confirmed all the people involved in the crash are from Angus.
He said: “A 22-year-old male is in intensive care following surgery and a 51-year-old female is undergoing surgery for a fractured wrist.
“A 52-year-old male has been treated for soft tissue damage and a 12-year-old female has been kept at Ninewells for observation.
“The 22-year-old suffered injuries to his legs and internal bleeding in his abdomen.
“His injuries are not thought to be life threatening but they are described as life changing,” the spokesman added.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101.
