The officer kicked in the door of the property in Forfar’s Dundee Loan where two people were trapped inside. He got one person out of the ground-floor flat around 11.30am before firefighters arrived and got the second person out safely. The two men in the flat put a grill pan on to cook burgers but had fallen asleep and a fire broke out in the kitchen. A spokesman for the ambulance service said the police officer had suffered minor smoke inhalation. He was taken to Whitehills Hospital in Forfar as a precaution. The two men in the flat did not need to be taken to hospital. See the full story in Monday’s Angus edition of The Courier.
