A man flew into a rage after being denied a second cup of tea after having spilled his first while waiting in custody at an Angus court.
Appearing from custody at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday, John Johnson (32) also known as Maguire of Ferry Street, Montrose, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and threatening a custodial services officer at the court’s holding cells on Friday.
He further admitted the offence was committed while on bail.
The court heard he had become aggressive after his original brew was over and he was told he wouldn’t be getting a replacement.
Johnson’s defence agent said the incident could be best described as a “storm in a teacup”, adding his client had admitted he acted in the wrong manner by “shouting the odds.”
In a warning to Ross prior to admonishing him, Sheriff Derek Pyle said, “The court takes a very dim view of threats made to court staff.”
