A Dundee police officer who saved a disabled man from “a certain and horrific death” in a burning building has been awarded a top national lifesaving honour.
PC Paul Radley will receive a Royal Humane Society Testimonial on Vellum, signed by president Princess Alexandra.
He risked his life to go into the burning building in Dundee on May 2 to drag the unconscious man to safety.
PC Radley was first to attend when flames filled Kenny Convery’s living room in Whitfield.
As the 48-year-old lay on the floor, the officer kicked in the door then battled through the smoke to reach him.
The damage to the Tillycairn Place house was described as “huge”.
PC Radley said: “I was on my own and I was aware that there was someone else inside. I would do the same if confronted with that situation again.”
According to the society, there is “no doubt” that Mr Convery would have died but for PC Radley.
