Disgraced former nurse Lucille Ferrie, who was once threatened with beheading in Saudi Arabia for her part in the murder of an Australian nurse in 1996, admitted fraud at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Ferrie, formerly McLauchlan, (45), of Brook Street, Dundee, admitted that on April 30 she used another person’s Mastercard to order two TVs from Argos online and obtained the goods valued at £462.98 by fraud.
She also admitted using another person’s Visa card to order a mobile phone from Argos online valued at £217.93 by fraud on the same date.
She further admitted using the same card to order a netbook computer from Littlewoods online and obtained the goods valued at £324.95 by fraud on the same date.
Her plea of not guilty to theft of a bank card was accepted by the crown.
Sheriff Hughes deferred sentence until February 14 for reports.
Ferrie made headlines around the world at Christmas 1996 after being accused, along with her colleague Deborah Parry, of murdering Australian nurse Yvonne Gilford.
At one point threatened with beheading after being found guilty of being an accessory to the murder, she was sentenced to eight years in jail and 500 lashes, while Parry was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death by execution.
Ferrie escaped the lashes, however, and returned home after being granted a royal pardon 17 months into her sentence, while Parry was also pardoned and allowed to return home to the UK.
The pardons were granted after “blood” money was paid to Mrs Gilford’s family in Australia.
Back in Dundee, Ferrie was sentenced to 240 hours community service in January 1999 after being found guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court of stealing a bank card from an elderly patient at Kings Cross Hospital and obtaining £300 from her bank account.
The charges predated her time in Saudi Arabia and it was widely believed she had fled to the Middle East to escape them.
After her conviction, she was struck off by the UK Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting after a hearing at which Ferrie failed to give evidence.
