Dundee band The View have again pitched in to help their local boys’ football team.
Last year the boys stepped in to help the cash-strapped Dryburgh Athletic by supplying new kit after a former director appeared in court on embezzlement charges.
Guitarist Pete Reilly used to play up front for the club along with Kyle Falconer’s brother Ronnie and the band were only too pleased to offer their support.
Now, thanks to their continued generosity, the young team are financially secure for the rest of the season.
As an added bonus, The View have sponsored new kit, which will proudly feature the band’s name.
Club boss Gary Taylor approached the band at the end of last season as the bleak financial situation became apparent.
He said, “I think that the team as a whole have turned the corner over the last year or so, both with the hard work of the parents, and also the support that The View have given us.
“It’s great that as busy as the guys are, they have taken time to give the kids a great boost, by providing the team with the new kit, and also meeting the boys on various occasions.
“They’re good guys, a great band and have been excellent towards our team.”
Pete said it was always his dream to have one of his favourite bands sponsor the club when he played for them.
“I played up front for the team between the ages of 10 and 13, along with Kyle’s brother Ronnie.
“Our tops and kit were never very good, we always had a mismatch of gear because there was never any money.
“I would always dream that our team had a big sponsor and we could get better stuff…little things like that make a difference when you’re a kid, having the best of gear gives you loads of confidence.
“When we heard about how the team had suffered we were straight in there to help.
“They’ve got some great young players these days and have been unbeaten since wearing our band name across their chest.
“That makes me proud and I hope that people will buy replica tops from the club to help their ongoing fund-raising.”

The band kick off their 2011 UK tour in support of their third album Bread And Circuses with a sell-out hometown gig at the Caird Hall on Monday.
