A 12-year-old Dundee girl has bravely donated her crowning glory to help children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment and raised £1,200 for Children in Need into the bargain.
Hannah Levin had been growing her hair for a number of years. So when she decided it was time for a change she was determined her 13-inch ponytail should not be cut in vain.
”I had seen things on television about children who were losing their hair and were really upset about it,” said the Dundee High School pupil. ”I just really wanted to help.”
Hannah was sponsored to have her hair cut and her locks are now on their way to the Little Princess Trust (link), a charity which provides real hair wigs for sick children.
And while there were some tears as Hannah said goodbye to her longer locks, she was soon getting used to her new look helped by the knowledge that she has also been able to help others.
She is now delighted with her new hair-do, and said: ”I’m really happy. I really, really like it.”
Her mother Carolyn thanked the ”incredibly generous” people who supported Hannah.
