Broughty Ferry in bloom for Beautiful Scotland judges
ByThe Courier Reporter
Broughty Ferry was in bloom as judges from the Beautiful Scotland campaign were in Courier Country assessing the work of the local in bloom team.
The team’s activities include beautifying the town, as well as specific gardens and planters and litter picks.
The judges will be looking out for three things: horticultural achievement, community participation and cleanliness and sustainability.
Last year Broughty Ferry in Bloom was awarded Silver Gilt, the award above Silver, and one rank below Gold.
Stan Nutt, chairman of Broughty Ferry in Bloom, said: “We’re hoping to do very well, we’ve increased what we do since last year, and I think our individual displays are looking better.
“There’s been more community engagement over the last few years. The traders are looking to bring more people into the Ferry, and we’re enhancing the beauty of the place, so they’re keen to work with us.”
Winning communities will be presented with their awards at a ceremony, which this year will take place at the Dundee Flower and Food Festival in the city’s Camperdown Park on September 5.
