Scaffolding is being stripped away from Tayside House ahead of the arrival of a huge demolition machine.
The high-reach vehicle will be used to pull down the building’s remaining floors at a much quicker pace.
Tayside House cannot be blown up due to the location and proximity to the Dundee-Aberdeen railway line and the main road along South Marketgait.
Safedem said the building is now low enough to allow “accelerated demolition”.
Tayside House has been steadily shrinking from the Dundee skyline for months as builders take the floors away piece by piece.
A Safedem spokesman said: “Safedem has purchased a new high-reach demolition machine which will be arriving at Tayside House to allow accelerated demolition from the 10th floor down.”
It is anticipated that the high-reach work will start in a matter of days.
