The circumstances that led to an unknown man’s dead body being discovered in the water off Broughty Ferry beach on Friday remain a mystery.
A walker first spotted the lifeless body in the Tay a short distance from the shoreline between the castle and lifeboat station. He was recovered from the water by the local lifeboat crew.
Tayside officers have checked missing person reports and liaised with other police force areas and inquiries are still taking place to find out who the man is.
After a weekend of activity, a fresh appeal was made in a bid to shed some light on the find.
It is hoped a description of the man and a list of the possessions discovered on his body could lead to someone recognising him.
The mystery man, who was wearing socks but no shoes, is described as white and aged between 40 and 50.
He was about 6ft, of stocky or heavy build and had brown, unkempt hair, a receding hairline as well as thick, greying stubble.
He was wearing a red waterproof jacket with hood, a beige long-sleeve shirt, a woollen snood around his neck, black Dunlop fingerless gloves, green hiking trousers and navy socks but no footwear.
In his possession was a pair of orange ear plugs and a small plastic container for them.
He also had a set of four gold or brass keys attaced to his left trouser pocket with a similar coloured metal chain, believed to fit three padlocks and a door.
The deceased also had a red plastic hair comb, a small white penknife, a Seiko silver metal wrist watch and a pair of large black plastic sunglasses.
Police have not yet released pictures of the items.
Anyone who thinks they may know a man fitting his description is being asked to contact police by calling 101 or speaking to any officer.
