Police hunting gang who attacked house and car in Douglas

Police are hunting four men who smashed the windows of a house and car in Douglas.

Officers say a dark-coloured car possibly a Vauxhall pulled up outside an address in Balbeggie Street at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Three men got out, while the driver stayed at the wheel. They ran to a nearby property and banged on the door before vandalising a car that was parked on the street, breaking its windows.

An object was then thrown at a window of the same house, smashing the glass.

The men, who are all thought to be in their early 20s, then got back in the car and left, heading in the direction of Balerno Place.

A police spokesman said: “One of the men wore a dark hooded top, with a Nike swoosh on it, with the hood up and dark tracksuit bottoms. Another wore a dark hooded top, again with the hood up. The third man also wore a dark-coloured hooded top, with the hood up, with ginger hair poking out from underneath.”

Two men were seen acting suspiciously outside the same property later in the evening, before leaving in a silver people carrier-style vehicle.

They are described as of slim build and wearing dark hooded tops.

Police say they are carrying out door-to-door inquiries, and have extra officers are patrolling the area.

Anyone with information is asked to phone 101, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or speak to any officer.
