Funeral of businessman and Dundee supporter Kevin Knox

Funeral of businessman and Dundee supporter Kevin Knox

The funeral of prominent businessman and Dundee FC supporter Kevin Knox will take place today.

Mr Knox, from Broughty Ferry, died last month at the age of 54.

Born in Aberdeen, he moved to Tayside as a boy when his family settled in Monifieth.

He attended Carnoustie High School and Bell Street Technical College, where he trained as a quantity surveyor.

Mr Knox founded Primero Contracts in 1993 with business partner Fred Ward and the pair worked on design projects for a series of major retailers including Ladbrokes, Specsavers and BHS.

Away from work, his main love was football, particularly Dundee FC, and he was regularly seen at Dens Park.

Primero Contracts was a major sponsor of the club for years and the Dens Park side have paid tribute to Mr Knox.

Managing director John Nelms said: “We were all so saddened this week as we got word that we lost a long-time fan in Kevin Knox.

“Kevin and his company, Primero, have been part of the fabric of Dundee FC for many years and will be sadly missed.”

Mr Knox underwent heart bypass surgery last year and was making a good recovery before falling ill this year.

His funeral will take place at Dundee Crematorium at 3.30pm today, where all friends and family are invited.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, and his sons, Richard, 22, and Andrew, 19.

Richard said: “Dundee, business and family are the three things he was known for.

“He will be missed a lot of people knew him from a lot of different things.”
