The future of GP services in Ardler in Dundee will be discussed at next week’s meeting of the NHS Tayside Board.
The Ardler GP surgery closed last week after NHS Tayside ended its contract with Dr Charles Miller to provide health services at the practice.
After a meeting with Dundee City West MSP Joe FitzPatrick and local councillors, the health authority’s associate medical director for primary care Dr Michelle Watts said the community will be involved in setting up new arrangements.
“The members around the table gave us their thoughts on how we could develop and deliver services for the community of Ardler,” said Dr Watts. “It is our intention to take these ideas and our medium- and long-term plans to the meeting of the NHS Tayside Board next week.
“In the short term, registration of patients is still our priority. As soon as we are assured that patients have access to the same full range of general medical services as all other Dundee residents, we can then look to the longer-term arrangements for GP services.
“When we come to look at these future arrangements, we will of course involve the community from the outset.”
Mr FitzPatrick added: “I felt that it was important to … discuss progress and prevent further misinformation about the termination of the contract with Dr Miller and the future of services in Ardler.”
