Police say Broughty Ferry man’s death is ‘not suspicious’

Police have this morning confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 56-year-old man at a flat in Broughty Ferry’s Union Street.
The man’s body was discovered shortly after 10am on Thursday.
Although he has not been formally identified, police believe he was a US national who had been resident in Scotland for a number of years. They say efforts are continuing to trace his next of kin.
On Wednesday, the man’s former flatmate, who said he knew the man as Bill, said: “He pretty much kept himself to himself, although he was a bit of a character.
“He wasn’t very healthy most of the time. He came over to Europe from America and had also lived in Germany and France.”
Another resident said: “I used to see him going about the Ferry. He wasn’t really ever in the pub you used to see him in the street mainly. I think he was on crutches the last time I saw him going about.”
Dave Glass, licensee of Doc Ferrys on Union Street, said: “As far as I’m aware a chap that lived upstairs was found this morning.”
As with all sudden deaths, a report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal.
