A man accused of driving on the wrong side of one of Dundee’s busiest roads has appeared in court.
Mykhaylo Astakhob (27), of Linksfield Avenue, Aberdeen, was arrested on Saturday and held in custody following the incident.
He appeared in private on Monday before Sheriff McDonald on a petition alleging dangerous driving, police assault and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody while the case was continued for further examination.
Police were called after several members of the public raised the alarm saying they had seen a green Audi A6 driving against the flow of traffic on Kingsway West.
Police were inundated with more calls from drivers at lunchtime on Saturday saying the vehicle was travelling up the A90 towards Forfar on the wrong side of the road.
The Audi is thought to have collided with a number of vehicles during its journey and one person was reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Road policing officers from areas across the region were deployed to trace the vehicle. Tayside Police said witnesses had been ”alarmed” throughout the incident.
