A woman was temporarily blinded after an egg thrown at her by a youth in a passing car smashed in her eye.
The 22-year-old suffered a painful corneal abrasion on her right eye in the incident in Gardner Street, Lochee, which the police are investigating.
She was walking to Tesco Kingsway with her boyfriend about 10pm last Saturday when they were approached by a car with youths or young men inside.
One of the windows was wound down and someone threw an egg at her, hitting her on the eye.
The woman was frightened to find she could not see out of her eye and she and her boyfriend went to Ninewells Hospital, where it was found she had a corneal abrasion.
The injury caused considerable pain but she is recovering.
Though distressed at her ordeal, she is also troubled at discovering she may not be the only victim.
She said: ”I now know of a few other people in the Lochee area who have had eggs thrown at them. One of the victims is a small child, and I wonder if it is the same people who are doing these things.
”It is definitely still going on because I see egg shells along the street every day. I hope the police can give this some attention so that the people doing this can be caught.”
Police confirmed they are investigating the report and they asked anyone with information to phone 111 2222.
