Road closures warning ahead of Forth Road Bridge festival finale
ByMichael Alexander
Police have advised motorists of road closures and parking restrictions ahead of the finale for the Forth Road Bridge 50th birthday celebrations.
On Saturday, southbound traffic will be restricted to a single lane from 7pm for the torchlight procession across the bridge.
The bridge will then close completely between 10pm and 10.30pm to allow a fireworks display to be launched from the structure.
South Queensferry High Street will be closed to traffic from 2pm on Saturday. Parking in South Queensferry will be suspended from 12pm in order to keep diversion routes clear.
North Queensferry residents and businesses will be permitted access but not via Ferryhill Road. Road closures are expected to be lifted at 5pm on Sunday.
Anyone planning a journey via the Forth Road Bridge or who anticipates travelling to or from North and South Queensferry over the weekend is urged to check Traffic Scotland’s website for full details of road closures.
Anyone travelling to the celebrations is urged to use the shuttle buses being provided for ticket-holders from a choice of departure points north and south of the Forth.
