MP backs villages’ call for mobile post office service in Fife
ByLeeza Clark
MP Thomas Docherty has backed a move for a mobile post office to serve the west Fife villages.
A consultation is looking into the possibility of a service covering Culross, Limekilns and Newmills. It is hoped that the new service would start this December and would visit the villages every Thursday.
The villages have been without services in recent years, which some residents have found frustrating.
The proposed mobile service would feature all of the usual Post Office functions.
The proposal could see the service visit Culross’s Balgowrie West car park from 9.15am-11.15am, Newmills’ Main Street across from the Crown Inn from 11.30am-1.30pm and Limekilns’ Main Street opposite the Bruce Arms from 2.15pm-4.15pm.
A six-week consultation has now begun and ends on November 11. Local residents are encouraged to contact the Post Office with their views.
Mr Docherty said: “It is important that this service suits the needs of local people and I would encourage individuals to share their thoughts on the proposed stops and times.”
