A 28 year old man who died in “suspicious” circumstances in Dunfermline on Thursday evening is not thought to be local.
Police forensic teams remained at the scene of the incident in Abbey View all day on Friday with officers in white suits entering and leaving the property throughout the day and two police officers standing guard at the front and the rear of the premises.
Mystery surrounds the incident which happened at 8.30pm in a second floor flat next door to Abbeyview Library and Abbey News shop.
A 26 year old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
The Courier approached various local shop keepers to ask them if they had heard any commotion on the night of the incident but they all said they had been “unaware” of any disturbance.
One shop keeper said he had heard the man had not lived in the area long and was originally from Kennoway.
Another local man, who works nearby but asked not to be named said: “All I’ve heard is that there was an altercation between the man who died and another man who some folk are saying was his flatmate but that could just be hearsay.
“I also heard it could have involved drugs but again that could be rubbish and it’s not right to speculate until we know all the facts.
“The whole community of Abbeyview is in shock. It’s a tight-knit wee place where everyone looks out for each other and everyone is just so sad that a young man has lost his life. My thoughts go out to his family.”
