ByThe Courier Reporter
A Fife woman was caught driving while almost eight times the legal alcohol limit.
Irene Hopkins, 52, of Ordnance Road, Crombie, admitted that on January 22 at Halbeath Retail Park, Dunfermline, she drove with excess alcohol, when she appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. Her reading was 175 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.
Sheriff Chris Shead told Hopkins she had committed an “extremely serious” offence. He added: “I’m prepared with some hesitation to release you on bail.”
An interim driving ban was put in place and Hopkins will return to court next Thursday for sentencing.
