A woman was injured after challenging a man who she caught breaking into her car in Kirkcaldy.
A 27-year-old female was in a property in the town’s Victoria Road, near to the Priory Park Health and Fitness Centre, when she heard the sound of smashing glass coming from outside at around 7pm on Tuesday.
When she went to investigate she saw a man breaking into her vehicle.
She immediately challenged him and suffered minor injuries after a struggle.
The man then made off on foot towards St Clair Street.
When the woman returned to her vehicle she discovered that her purse had been stolen from the car.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who can help them trace the suspect as quickly as possible.
He is described as being a white male in his 30’s, with a skinny build, short dark hair, wearing a grey hooded top, dark coloured trousers and carried a green/tan coloured rucksack on his back.
He was also believed to be carrying a golf club and a tennis racket.
Inspector Paul Dick said: “The victim of this attack has gone through quite an ordeal and I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Victoria Road at around 7pm on Tuesday and who remembers seeing anything unusual to please get in touch with police on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“At this time it was still daylight and it is known that a number of vehicles drove past the area. It may also be possible that the male was loitering nearby prior to 7pm so we would also like to hear from people who saw someone matching the man’s description.
“I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are very rare however police patrols will take place in the area and enquires are being carried out by local officers into this matter.”
