Residents of a Newport block of flats had to flee their homes on Friday after a fire broke out in a tinder shed next to their homes. The blaze, in a shed at the gable end of Seacraig Court, occurred around 12.15pm. Fire crews from Dundee and Tayport both attended the incident and used a hosereel to put out the flames. No one was hurt in the incident and the flames were extinguished in just over half an hour.
