A shopkeeper has been injured during an armed raid in Dunfermline.
Police have launched a manhunt following the robbery at Omar’s Grocers, in Alexandra Street, on Sunday night.
The robbery took place around 9.30pm when two men entered and threatened the shopkeeper with a weapon, demanding money.
After assaulting him, the men ran off with a small amount of money and cigarettes. Police say they may have been with a third man waiting outside, as three men then ran off into nearby streets.
The 33-year-old shopkeeper was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where he is being treated for an injury to his arm.
Police have not confirmed the nature of his injury.
Detective Inspector David Russell said: “This was an unprovoked and particularly violent attack on an innocent member of the public who was simply doing his job. This shop is located in a residential area of Dunfermline, and it is vital that we trace the people responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously around this time, or saw people running off, to contact us as soon as possible.”
Police are searching for a white man around 6ft tall. He was wearing a balaclava or similar hat, dark jumper and tracksuit bottoms.
The second man was also white and around 5’10”. He was wearing a light beanie-type hat, dark jacket and tracksuit bottoms. He was carrying a light coloured rucksack.
There is no description available for the third man, who was outside the shop.
Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
