Tickets for Dunfermline’s first ever Comic Con have sold out ahead of Saturday’s event.

The response from science fiction fans has been beyond the expectations of the organisers.

To mark the inaugural convention, being staged at Dunfermline’s Glen Pavilion, Titan has produced a special edition of their latest Doctor Who magazine.

There are just 1,000 issues with the special Dunfermline Abbey cover and they will be on sale only at the Comic Con event.

The event is being run by Little Shop of Heroes in conjunction with local business improvement district company Dunfermline Delivers.

Alby Grainger, owner of the Little Shop of Heroes and Comic Con organiser, said: “With all the tickets selling out in advance there will be none available on the day.

“I highlight that because we don’t want people turning up and being disappointed.

“We had hoped the Comic Con might be a sell out but the response from the public has been beyond even our expectations.

“There are people coming from all over Scotland and now that it’s just days away there’s a real buzz.

“People are getting exciting about coming here and especially the cosplayers.”

Chris Foote, Dunfermline Delivers’ events manager, said: “There’s a lot of hard work gone into the convention and we’re delighted that so many people will be coming to the town on Saturday.

“I’m sure our visitors will have a great time.”

Among the special guests at the event will be writer Simon Spurrier and illustrator Neil Slorance, from the Doctor Who comic.

Special attractions in the line up include a Tardis, a Dalek and a David Tennant/Doctor Who lookalike.

There will also be a replica Iron Throne from Game of Thrones where fans can have their photo taken and a Star Wars 501st Legion re-enactment.

The convention will also feature an exhibition of weapons from the movies and a display of rare comics featuring the first ever appearances of the likes of Spider-Man, Deadpool and the Incredible Hulk.

There is a team of 24 volunteers who will be making sure the event runs smoothly and the fun gets under way at 10am.
