Army bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion near Tentsmuir Beach, following the discovery of a 10lb mortar shell. The 12-inch explosive, dating from 1941, was confirmed as still being live so had to be disposed of safely. It was discovered in a field near Tentsmuir Point shortly after noon on Sunday. No one was hurt in the incident.
