Fife driving school backs cyclist safety campaign

Pro-Scot is backing plans for strict liability to encourage greater respect between motorists and cyclists.
Pro-Scot is backing plans for strict liability to encourage greater respect between motorists and cyclists.

Pro-Scot Ltd of Kirkcaldy is the latest company to endorse Cycle Law Scotland’s (CLS) campaign for strict liability.

Pro-Scot is backing strict liability as it encourages greater respect between all road users and the firm is welcoming CLS’s push to see Scotland offer the same legal protection to cyclists as the vast majority of other European countries.

It is joining CLS to encourage debate on the issue. Most of all, Pro-Scot, which delivers training for motorists and motorcyclists across Scotland, sees the introduction of strict liability as the right backdrop to educating all road users and a means of making roads safer.

Pro-Scot director John MacDonald said: “Our driving school constantly promotes best practice and thrives on delivering to a high standard, which includes ensuring our learner drivers have the necessary tools to keep themselves and others safe on the road.

“I have chosen to support Cycle Law Scotland’s campaign for strict liability as I feel they share Pro-Scot’s interest in promoting awareness of the importance of mutual respect amongst road users.”
