Murder trial hears accused told police dead man was ‘alive when I left him’
ByGraeme Ogston
A Dundee murder accused told police “he was alive when I left him” after being detained on suspicion of the killing, a trial has heard.
Matthew Pope had previously told officers he had spent the whole night of the alleged murder in a city centre pub and had not returned to Lochee’s Elders Court until after 3am.
Pope denies killing Michael Given at the multi-storey block on July 20 or 21 last year.
The trial at the High Court in Aberdeen was read an eight-page police statement given by Pope to Detective Sergeant Keith Duncan at 4.45am on July 21.
The trial continues. See more in Saturday’s Courier.
