All roads will again lead to Angus this weekend for Fife bikers on a major charity trip.

After last Saturday’s successful Harley Davidson in the City event which saw almost 10,000 people flock to Brechin, a ride-out from Kirkcaldy to the village of Aberlemno will give more two-wheeled enthusiasts the opportunity to pay homage to the Angus family which gave its name to the iconic American marque.

The Fife Motorcycle Runs ride-out for Autism will bring an estimated 100 machines to Aberlemno village hall for a Sunday afternoon barbecue from where the participants will also be able to make the short journey to the tiny Netherton cottage, a few miles away.

Restored by the Davidson Legacy group of enthusiasts, the property was the home of Sandy and Margaret Davidson before they left Angus for the US on a journey that would eventually see their grandsons help found the motorcycle manufacturer.

The heritage attraction is also set to be revealed to a wider audience after comedian and broadcaster Fred MacAulay visited it last weekend for BBC Scotland’s On The Road series, which will be screened on Monday.

Maggie Sherrit of the Davidson Legacy said the group was delighted to be linking with Aberlemno hall committee to stage the event again and looking forward to welcoming an interesting array of machinery.

“There are all kinds of bikes, but we always get quite a few custom Harleys when the Fife group comes over,” she said.

“We had them last year and Aberlemno hall kindly volunteered to host them again so it’s a winner for everyone.”

Maggie continued: “During the summer we have visitors every weekend at the cottage, with a lot coming from Europe and America.”

In addition to being able to see the restored cottage, Harley fans can also view a striking display of stainless steel crests on a board at the property which was set up to acknowledge the support of friends of the project.

Through the www.thedavisdsonlegacy.com website, people from across the globe have now also taken up the chance to add their name to the ‘wall of fame’ in support of the group’s continuing effort to promote the historical Angus link to the legendary manufacturer.
