Perthshire adventurer Mark Beaumont has embarked upon a major charity challenge.
In a bid to raise thousands of pounds to help children living in poverty, he will follow the entire 230-mile route of the Highland Boundary Fault.
The mammoth expedition will see him cross the open sea three times and become the first person to complete a six-mile swim between Arran and the Isle of Bute.
Over the course of the 10-day challenge, Mark will also cross Scotland’s biggest loch, Loch Lomond, and endure ultra-marathon runs over tough terrain.
He said: “I have never been a strong swimmer and only ever run as a small part of my expedition training, so this challenge is genuinely terrifying.
“I wanted to create something which was a real test, however, and that will capture the imagination of supporters across Scotland. In truth, I don’t yet know if I am capable of this but I am putting in my absolute all.”
He hopes to attract donations of £50,000 for the STV Appeal, which aims to tackle child poverty and help vulnerable youngsters.
As he travels between Arran and Aberdeen, Mark will also visit others who have supported the appeal and will be joined by a number of Scottish personalities, including TV presenter Cat Cubie, athlete Eilish McColgan and former rugby star Scott Hastings.
