Communities around Gleneagles ‘very much open for business’ during Ryder Cup

Access to Perthshire communities is to remain open during the Ryder Cup.

Auchterarder and Glendevon will be open for business as usual is the clear message being delivered by Ryder Cup Europe, Transport Scotland and Perth and Kinross Council.

While the event will be taking place in nearby Gleneagles from September 23-28, the organisers are keen to stress that road access for people visiting shops, businesses, friends and family will remain open during the week of the event.

The A823 Glendevon road will be open to all visiting local businesses and residents.

In addition, parking will be available along Auchterarder High Street, though this will be regularly patrolled to make sure there is no improper parking.

Councillor Ian Miller, leader of Perth and Kinross Council, said: “We’ve worked hard to make sure Auchterarder will remain accessible for residents, businesses and visitors throughout the Ryder Cup.

“I’m confident the planning and preparation will pay off, with both a successful event and a long-term economic gain for the area.”

Antonia Beggs, operations director at Ryder Cup Europe, added: “We want to promote the fact that Auchterarder, Glendevon and other local communities are very much open for business.”
