Temperatures to soar ahead of wet Scottish Cup final weekend

Unseasonably good weather is expected to take hold across Courier Country.
Unseasonably good weather is expected to take hold across Courier Country.

Temperatures will soar to above the average in Courier Country on Friday but the weekend weather looks likely to rain on the parade of supporters heading to the Scottish Cup Final.

A mixed picture is forecast for this weekend and after a promising start the weather is expected to deteriorate. The fine weather could bring a top temperature of 19C, which is well over the average for Scotland which is 13C.

The sunshine should peak in the afternoon and early evening, however, the unseasonal good fortune is not expected to last long.

Tomorrow there is a 60% chance that Courier Country will see showers but they are not likely to be heavy.

Those making their way to Celtic Park for the Dundee United versus St Johnstone final would do well to take an umbrella with them as Glasgow is looking at a higher than 80% chance of rain.

A Met Office forecaster told The Courier: “As we go through to Saturday an area of low pressure approaches from the north west of the UK.

“As it comes past it will break but there will be a bit more cloud and the chance of showers on Saturday. The further west you go the more likely it is.

“During the later part of the morning and into the early afternoon the top temperature could be around 15C. These are above average temperatures for this time of year.”

Sunday is expected to be a dry day, if a little cooler, with top temperatures of 14C at a push.

The forecaster added: “It will probably be a mainly dry day with some cloud around which will bring temperatures down.

“It is a bit of a mixed picture this weekend but it is looking not bad at all.”
