A man has been placed on the sex offenders register after admitting sending a picture of his genitals to a nine-year-old girl.
Sean Malcolm told the child he was 15 when he began talking to her on a social networking site.
The girl, who also claimed to be 15, was later sent the photograph, though it is unclear whether or not she actually saw the image.
At Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday, the 20-year-old admitted that on January 1 he attempted to cause a child under the age of 13 to look at a sexual image by sending her the image of his private parts through Facebook.
Depute fiscal Robbie Brown said the pair had been chatting via the site, with each telling the other they were 15.
Malcolm sent the girl the image but, as she had been accessing Facebook on her phone, she was unable to see it. The girl’s mother later saw the picture and called the police.
Defence solicitor Billy Sommerville said that, as far as he was aware, the girl did receive the image and made comments relating to it.
Sheriff Fiona Tait deferred sentence on Malcolm, of Brahan Terrace, Perth, for reports on his background to be prepared. She placed him on the sex offenders register in the interim.
