The 25ft festive fir, which was planted outside the concert hall, toppled when 60mph gusts battered the Perthshire patch overnight. It was one of three large Christmas trees bought by Perth and Kinross Council at a cost of £1,000. The authority also spend £750 on 10 smaller trees which have been erected in and around the high street area. The fallen fir will be assessed for damage later this morning before attempts are made to put in back in place.
