Diabetic who bit woman at T in the Park thinks sugar crash might be to blame

Pardoe shouted 'boo' and bit his victim at T in the Park.

A diabetic man who shouted “boo” then bit a stranger at T in the Park claimed a blood sugar crash may have been to blame for his bizarre behaviour.

Matthew Pardoe, 25, was ordered to pay £200 compensation to his victim Evie Somers after he admitted assaulting her.

Pardoe was the second festival-goer in two days to admit sinking his teeth into a stranger at the music festival at Strathallan Estate this summer.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that Pardoe was wandering around aimlessly and attacked one of a group of people who had gone to try and offer him help.

Fiscal depute Stuart Richardson said: “Witnesses spotted him at the music festival at 1am looking rather lost. They went over and asked if he was OK.

“Unfortunately, he shouted boo and then lunged forward and bit this lady on the body. It was on her left shoulder and caused bruising. He ended up being arrested.”

Pardoe, Barclay Road, London, admitted attacking and injuring Evie Somers by biting her body at T in the Park at Strathallan Estate, Auchterarder, on 11 July this year.

Solicitor David Sinclair, defending, said: “My client attended the T in the Park festival with a group of friends. He couldn’t find his friends or his way back to the camp and became anxious.

“Obviously, that doesn’t explain why he reacted in this way. One possible explanation is that he is a suffering diabetic and had consumed too much alcohol during the day. Then after a spike in his blood sugar levels he has suffered a crash.”

Sheriff Kevin Veal ordered Pardoe – who has not previously been in trouble – to pay £200 compensation to his victim.
