Pensioner cleared of making threats with walking stick
ByThe Courier Reporter
A pensioner has been cleared of threatening a neighbour and a schoolboy with his walking stick.
Daniel McIldowie, 76, denied behaving in a threatening manner by shouting and waving the walking aid at Charles Petterson and an 11-year-old child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, outside his home at Horsemill Place, Bridge of Earn, on February 6 this year.
The court heard that Mr Petterson and McIldowie had a long-running feud. Mr Petterson denied a suggestion by McIldowie’s solicitor Cliff Culley that he had verbally abused the accused’s wife earlier in the day.
Sheriff Fiona Tait said that based on the evidence heard she could not be clear about the events of the day and found McIldowie not guilty.
