A nurse who allegedly took drugs while caring for mentally ill patients faces being struck off.
Frederick Alison is accused of having self-administered non-prescription medication while on duty between September 2011 and February 2012.
At the time he worked as a senior staff nurse on the Kinclaven Ward at Murray Royal Hospital, Perth.
He will appear before a conduct committee at the Nursing and Midwifery Council later this month, when it will be decided whether he will be allowed to continue working as a nurse.
Alison is also accused of stealing strong painkillers and sedatives from the hospital for his own use on dates between September 2011 and January 2012.
Charges due to be brought before the NMC allege he took painkillers codeine phosphate oral suspension and tramadol; sedative lorazepam and gabapentin, a seizure medication.
A third charge alleges that on unknown dates between September 2011 and February 2012, Alison took from the hospital or inappropriately stored a litany of drugs in his locker.
Health bosses say that in addition to the other drugs, he took antibiotics, constipation medicine and drugs to reduce stomach acid. They also accuse him of having a syringe and needles in his locker.
They allege that he tried to hide what he had done by destroying records and that his actions were dishonest.
