T in the Park fans gather for final Balado party

Music fans have begun making their annual pilgrimage to T in the Park for one final Balado party.

Revellers packed trains and buses leaving from Perth yesterday anticipating yet another stunning event. The campsite gates opened last night, with the entertainment getting under way almost immediately.

The music festival begins in earnest today though, with the main arena opening to the first of more than 200 acts including Friday headliners Biffy Clyro.

“This will be my fourth year at T in the Park and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Stephanie Hutton from Crieff, who was boarding a bus with friends Amanda Sutherland and Gavin Wylie.

Gavin added: “It’s the last one at Balado, so we really want to make the most of it. Hopefully the weather will be good.”

Unlike her friends, Amanda said she was heading to her first T in the Park, but she had heard good things about the festival, which welcomes 85,000 revellers into the arena each day.

“We’ll be camping and really I don’t know quite what to expect,” she said.

“Hopefully, we’ll all have a great time.”

Also leaving from Perth, were a group of festival first-timers from west Yorkshire, who had travelled overnight to arrive in the Fair City.

“I’ve been once before so I’ve been able to tell everyone just how good it is,” said 17-year-old Amy Blyth.

“Coming up to Scotland just makes it better it’s more of an event for us.”

Friend Lewis Firth added: “We’ve camped out before at a festival so we know how crazy it is.

“It’s a great bill and we’re looking forward to seeing so many of the acts Calvin Harris in particular.”
