A hillwalker whose dog was rescued from the Perthshire mountains is to climb an Indian peak to thank those who came to his aid.
Golden retriever Beinn collapsed in the Coire Domhain area, north of Pitlochry, on June 21 while out searching for another dog.
The Tayside Mountain Rescue team rushed to the area and spent several hours stretchering the dog to safety. Sadly just a week later the beloved pet collapsed for a second time at home and passed away.
Owner Andy Lawson, who is from the Banff area, is now planning to raise hundreds of pounds for Tayside Mountain Rescue by climbing the highest peak in the Stok range of the Himalayas.
On August 10 he will fly to Ladakh, in the Jammu and Kashmir area of the country, to scale the 6,183m (20,285ft) Stok Kangri mountain.
Andy said: “On June 21 my dog Beinn, a very good-natured seven-year-old golden retriever, collapsed while out walking on the Drumochter hills.
“Tayside Mountain Rescue Team came to our assistance, evacuating Beinn from the hillside via stretcher, all-terrain-vehicle and land rover. Sadly, Beinn passed away on June 28, following a further collapse at home. He will be greatly missed.
“As a token of my appreciation, I am fundraising for Tayside Mountain Rescue Team a team of dedicated volunteers providing a 24-hour service, 365 days a year.
“Team members do this job without any financial remuneration. It costs circa £30,000 per annum to fund the team, more than 90% of which is funded through donations.
“On August 10 I will be travelling to Delhi and then onto Ladakh, India, in an attempt to ascend a peak called Stok Kangri. At 6,183m, Stok Kangri is the highest peak in the Stok range of the Himalayas.
“While the peak itself is not technically challenging, the summit is at very-high altitude. The cost of this trip has been paid in its entirety by myself.
“Therefore, every single penny raised through my fundraising page will be going to Tayside Mountain Rescue Team. Any donation made will go to Tayside Mountain Rescue Team regardless of whether I actually make it to the summit.”
