A 19-year-old who punched two strangers has been sentenced to detention for eight months at Perth Sheriff Court.
Michael Craven (19), of Nimmo Avenue, Perth, admitted that on February 10 at Crieff Road, Perth, he punched the rear window of a car, causing it to smash.
He also admitted along with Robert Hay (20), of St John Street, Perth, that on March 13 at an address in Logie Crescent, Perth, they assaulted a man by punching him repeatedly to the face to his injury.
Craven pled guilty to a further charge that on November 25, 2010, at a bus stop in Mill Street, Perth, he smashed a window of a bus by punching it.
The court heard that Craven was seen with a group of youths in Crieff Road when the complainer drove past them around 11pm.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said Craven kicked a wing mirror as the car passed and the driver stopped his car.
”The complainer asked the accused’s name, but he refused to give it,” she said. ”The man tried to take his photograph but Craven then punched him.”
The second incident occurred when a council employee arrived at 11.30pm to change locks on Craven’s girlfriend’s house.
Craven tried to hit the man with a brick and then both men punched him.
Craven’s sentence was backdated to March 19, while Hay was given a community payback order for one year, with a condition he carry out 100 hours’ unpaid work.
