A teenager accused of smashing a stolen car into the back of a police vehicle in Kinross-shire has appeared at Perth Sheriff Court.

Ryan Adsley (19) appeared on Monday on nine charges relating to the alleged incident on Friday night.

Adsley, of County Place, Perth, pled not guilty to taking and driving away a car without consent from a property in Whyte Place, Milnathort.

He denies driving carelessly on the A911 Burleigh Road and colliding with a bollard and stone wall at its junction with New Road, Milnathort and the Milnathort to Wester Balgedie road.

The charge states he continued driving the unroadworthy Toyota car in an erratic manner and collided with the rear of a Tayside Police motor vehicle.

It is further alleged he had been driving without insurance and while the holder of only a temporary driving licence and failed to stop and give his details after the alleged accident and when required to do so by police.

Adsley is also accused of failing to provide two specimens of breath at police headquarters and of possessing cannabis resin, as well as taking a wallet and key from the Whyte Place property.

Co-accused, Shaun Joyce (18), of Whyte Place, Kinross, admitted allowing himself to be driven in a car he knew to be taken without consent. He will be sentenced on September 28.

Adsley appeared in private on a separate petition alleging robbery with a hammer in Hospital Street, Perth, on July 1.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. Trial was set for September 28.
