Dundee, Edinburgh and Johnstone in Renfrew have today been chosen as the locations for Scotland’s three fire control rooms.
A meeting of the Scottish Fire Service Board in Dundee agreed by nine votes to three to approve the recommendation from a strategic review.
The Dundee site will be Blackness Road.
Chairman Pat Watters told the board he would not want to do anything that would put the people of Scotland at risk and he said the preferred option was the best way forward.
The rationalisation of fire control rooms is designed to remove duplication from the servive and save £18m in capital costs and over £4m a year in revenue spending.
